CRN Newsletter 26 March 2021

What's On in Western Sydney

It was fire early last year, then we had the plague and now it is floods! Aussies may be think ourselves as a 'tough breed' of people and resillient BUT that doesn't mean we don't need help from time to time. Our thoughts are with the communities and service providers who are currently experiencing and managing emergency evacuations and safety activities. Keep safe. Please check out our Facebook post for links to find help from organisations like the SES and Redcross.

The Australian Government has also activated the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) and Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) to support those heavily affected by the storms and flooding in New South Wales. Go to our Facebook Page for more information here.

CRN's very own Executive Officer, Kittu Randhawa has been in the news with her advocacy work on behalf of the India(Sub-Continent) Crisis Support Agency. Read the article here. While we are on the subject of advocacy for women; Kittu will also be representing ICSA, who have been called to give evidence to the Joint Select Committee on Coercive Control on Monday 29 March. ICSA will be appearing alongside Settlement Services International (SSI) and Immigration Advice & Right Centre (IARC).

If there are any key issues you think ICSA should try and raise, please email them at

As always, it has been a busy week at CRN and lots of great information has crossed our desks. So let's 'Read all about it!'

Hills Domestic Violence Prevention Network (HDVPN)

HDVPN is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021. They will celebrate this momentous milestone and hold the 2021 AGM on 18 August 2021.

As part of this celebration HDPVN are writing a booklet telling the story of the network, its beginnings and the many achievements over the years.

If you have any stories or pictures that you would like to have considered for inclusion in the booklet could you please send them to as soon as possible.

If you know any past members, especially those from earlier years, could you please invite them to make contact with Carol as their stories will be valuable in knowing the early history.

Please fell free to circulate this message to your other networks as past members are often working in different areas now.

Carol Harding.
